Congratulations to the Plano West Jazz Orchestra!

Plano West Jazz Orchestra has been chosen as one of the 2024 Essentially Ellington Competition & Festival finalists and will be heading to New York City this coming May for the 6th year in a row!

Essentially Ellington is the Super Bowl of high school Jazz Bands. Over 100 high school Jazz Bands nationwide submit recordings of their performances. Each recording is judged in a blind screening process, and only 15 high school Jazz Bands are chosen as finalists.

This is a huge achievement for our Plano West Jazz Orchestra Band!

They’re not only representing PISD, but also Texas as they were the only high school Jazz Band in Texas to be chosen as a finalist!

Congratulations to the Jazz Band students and to their amazing Director, Preston Pierce. We wish you the best of luck!
